Van der Sar is probably going to quit. At 38, even for a goalie, that is a ripe old age.
BTW, Marko van Basten also is going to stop training the national team ( they say he goes to Ajax now )
Van Basten has had too many personality problems. I'll be happy to see him go. I liked him as a player, but as a coach he has a long way to go. He had the most talented players Holland has had in years, perhaps ever. Because of personal conflicts with players and inability to use them effectively, he squandered a good chance to get to the semi-finals.
The Dutch deserved better than what they got under his leadership (or lack thereof). Ajax can have van Basten.
Not taking anything away from the Russian team. They played brilliantly. The inablity of van Basten to react to their style of playing and the way the starting team was set up was inexcusable.
"To Pee or Not to Pee".
Was THAT the question?
